2012: The Beginning

Primedia, founded in 1994 in Nairobi, Kenya, became Africa's leading media and advertising group by 2012, focusing on premium consumers. It boasts a diverse portfolio, including the largest Digital-Out-Of-Home LED screen in Kenya and mall media concessions in Nairobi's biggest malls.

2016: Installed the Largest Outdoor LED Screen

In 2016, Primedia OOH Africa launched the largest Super-LED screen in East Africa, measuring 12m x 9m. Positioned on the busy Uhuru Highway near the University of Nairobi, it brought world-class technology and innovative booking options to Kenya. The screen went live on 8 September 2016, providing new OOH advertising opportunities in Nairobi.

2018: The Partnerships

Due to increased demand for new DOOH technology, Primedia formed long-term partnerships with LG and Huawei. This collaboration improved the quality of advertisements, featuring high-quality visual screens in major Nairobi malls. LG provided high-end screens and installation services, while Huawei contributed media networking and Wi-Fi solutions. These partnerships boosted the quality of digital advertising in Kenya.

2019: The Kenya Railways Corporation - Partnership

Primedia, aiming to tap into the growing global OOH and DOOH market, became the exclusive digital and transit advertising partner for Kenya Railways. This partnership involved creating strategic advertising opportunities at the new Standard Gauge Railway Network stations and installing digital and static media spaces for the Nairobi Commuter Rail Network as its stations underwent revamps.

2020: Free WiFi Launch

Digital Mara Media Limited introduced free public Wi-Fi at Nairobi Commuter Rail's Central station to enhance tech use. With high mobile phone ownership in Kenya, ICT is crucial. Pew Research found 80% of Kenyan adults owned phones in 2017. Kenya's mobile penetration exceeds Sub-Saharan Africa's average, continuing to grow. 5G trials are underway.

Primedia Rebrands to Digital Mara Media

Digital Mara, formerly Primedia, and Kenya Railways Corporation have updated branding opportunities to enhance experiences for brands, advertisers, and rail passengers. The expanded partnerships with LG and Huawei aim to improve the quality of OOH and DOOH ads on Kenya Railways, including the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) and Nairobi Commuter Rail.
